Kilimanjaro 7 Day Lemosho Climb + 2 Day Safari Our experience with Tanzania Joy Tours started with a 7 day trek to Uhuru Peak atop Mt. Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho route. Our head guide August was very attentive (especially... Read more when it came to our health and safety on the mountain). Our assistant guide Siza was also very accommodating (carrying our packs if need be and assisting us on trickier parts of the climb). Both men were committed to getting us to the summit. Our chef was prepared delicious meals for us on the daily. We were fed rice dishes, pasta dishes, soups, and stews among other snacks (peanuts and popcorn). Our waiter (Victor) was very pleasant and quick with delivery of tea, water for wash and our meals. The route was breathtaking and while some days were long and challenging I never once regretted the decision to do the trek. On summit night, I was affected by the altitude (my symptoms included nausea, extreme fatigue and the inability to keep my balance). Our lead guide (August) had to literally hold my arm and drag me up the mountain. I did not take AMS medication because up until summit night I had adjusted to the altitude well and was advised not to take the Diamox I had been prescribed. While I did not enjoy the AMS symptoms, I got to the summit and down again with no lasting ill effects. The only minor issue we had was the communication regarding the tipping procedure. Ie, how much to tip each member of the crew. Be sure to ask for details and clarify anything you are unsure of before getting to the mountain. Our safari was outstanding. Our guide John was very informative and pleasant. We did 2 days which was more than enough to see an extensive list of animals. Be prepared for many bumps. Also note that the time it takes to drive to and from (we were based in a hotel in Moshi) Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater is several hours. Overall my aunt and I had a wonderful time. Kilimanjaro & Safari trip Tanzania Joy Tours We (me and my boyfriend) both did a Safari and climbed Kilimanjaro through Tanzania Joy Tours. Both were amazing and the company really did it's best to make sure we... Read more had the best holiday. For the safari we joined 4 others from 2 different companies. With the 6 of us we had a great group in the jeep and were able to see both great migration as well as the Big Five. The guide was really great and we were really happy to see that everything was organized well. We slept in tents and there was a cook with us to make sure that provided us with good food everyday. For the Kilimanjaro we were surprised to have been with just the two of us and not join a group. However in the end it turned out to be not a problem at all since it was easier to not have to wait for others (just the 2 of us) and we came across so many people everyday during the climp and in the camps that it felt like a very social trip after all.I did not have too many expectations for the food on the mountain (after all you are on a mountain), but the cook who was with us made some excellent food and we always had way too much. Furthermore we were really glad to have Patrick as a guide since he really cared for the safety of the tourists on the mountain (we saw some people along the way to be left alone by their guide which is totally unexceptable) and he also was a nice guide to have around and very experienced. He was a good leader of the team and made sure that we had the best time and made it to the top! Also, on forehand we were sceptical about whether we would need all the clothing that was recommended by the guide/company the day before we climbed the Kili, however we were very glad we did rend the recommended stuff because you do need it during the summit!By the way, Machame Route 6 days is the route we did and absolutely no regrets chosing this route and amount of days. All in all, I can definitely recommend Tanzania Joy Tours: I feel it is always better to join a local organization and this company really met the expectations and more. I can honestly say that you'll have a good value for money compared to other organizations! Read less

Kilimanjaro Machame Route Trek Tanzania Joy Tours was an excellent company to book our trek with. We had a group of four college students and joined a fifth Tanzanian man who turned out to... Read more be an incredible person and a good friend. Emmanuel was available basically 24/7 when it came to planning and communication before the hike as well as once we were in Tanzania. We chose the Machame Route 7 day trek but ended up finishing in 6 days. Emmanuel and our guide were very flexible with this. In terms of the hike specifically, Ringo Star was our guide. I very highly recommend him as a guide. Ringo has a great sense of humor and him and his team worked very well together. Ringo (our main guide) and Deo (our assistant guide) were very knowledgeable about the mountain, the different routes, the vegetation, etc. Also, Josef, our cook, was incredible. We had more than enough food during the entire hike and all the food was very good. Ringo, Deo, and Josef all accompanied our group of 5 as we summitted and ensured that we all made it to the top of the tallest free standing mountain in the world. I could go on and on about how great of an experience Tanzania Joy Tours was and how great our guide Ringo made our trip, but I suggest you simply contact Emmanuel if you’re considering planning your Kilimanjaro trek. As a college student, I spent a lot of time trying to find the best deal for its value while making sure the tour company I chose was trustworthy for this hike. I’m very happy that I chose Tanzania Joy Tours and got Ringo as a guide — I suggest that you do the same. Read less

Kilimanjaro Through Machame Tanzania Joy Tours came to my life when I was looking for a company that will help me to write a new history in my life.. been a Tanzanian, born... Read more and raised.. with DNA from the kilimanjaro mountain side called Machame, I would hear stories while growing about my forefathers. One thing interested me was the name my forefathers gave to this massive growing up to the skies landscape - KILEMA KYARO (kilimanjaro) meaning the mountain that defeated safari... I could almost believed them until the spark of fire in my heart was ignited by my Russian friends while studying there Aeronautics Engineering, who were astonished to hear I have DNA under the foot of Mt Kilimanjaro yet I had not dared to climb it? Shame couldn't help me to utter an answer to the questions as I felt, i succumbed to the belief of my forefather, from there I determined in my heart to prove the case straight and years later Tanzania Joy Tours company helped me to set the verdict straight.Under Emmanuel Mremi and his outstanding team of mountain guides Ringo-star and Deo, a chef Joseph who in all days up the mountain nourished our hearts with wonderful foods, it was always a new day of experience in my book, porters were as excellently organised as wise ants.. everything was in place at the right time flowing with everyday schedule..With detailed organisation of our tour guide Ringo and his team.. the Elite five of us.. Austin, Christine, Shown, Maya and myself. Made to the Uhuru peak within 5 days and on the 6th we were enjoying nice drinks by the hotel near Mweka Gate.As mandela would say.."It always seems impossible until it's done".Tanzania Joy Tours made it done.. now I can stand tall and tell my forefathers it's not KYALEMA KYARO but KWAIDIMA KYARO.Just check out with Emmanuel and Emmanuel will connect you with Ringo and Ringo will wake you up from the dream and actually start living life. As always when you are booking something sight unseen from overseas you are apprehensive hiowever I found their price to be very competitive and fully inclusive (except for Tips of course which standard practice), a 30% deposit only was required with cash in USD on arrival prior to start which made me very comfortable.
