Tour Overview
Visit the two largest and most popular parks in Southern Tanzania on this special fly-in 5-day safari starting in Arusha (after a safari in the northern circuit) and ending in Dar es Salaam.
Start at the Ruaha National Park in the hazy blue hills of the central/southern highlands. Here you will spy colorful migrating birds, impressive herds of elephants and hippo, plus lion prides hunting along the Great Ruaha and the Mzombe Rivers that border the park.
Then fly to the expansive 21,000 square mile (55,000 square kilometers) Selous Game Reserve which is UNESCO World Heritage Site home to rare wild dogs and thousands of migrating elephants.
This trip offers unique open vehicle game drives, small boat safaris, and wonderful walking safaris in the heart of the African wilderness.
You can also do this trip in reverse order, starting in Dar and ending in Arusha. Flights can be combined with flights to/from the Serengeti and to/from Zanzibar.

Day 1: Fly Arusha to Ruaha, afternoon game drive
Fly Arusha to Ruaha, arriving in time for an afternoon game drive.
Upon arrival, settle into your own private "Banda" or rock chalet at the Ruaha River Lodge. There will be time to experience your first game drive today. Game drives are done in unique open vehicles that allow for 360 viewing of the area's impressive wildlife.
During your stay, be sure to visit the elevated bar and watch spectacular sunset over the river below. Fall asleep with the fresh night air gently blowing through the screened windows and perhaps even wake to an elephant outside your door the next morning.
